Subliminalog: Michael Phelps' future

Michael Phelps is a great athlete (chick magnet), and he’s clean (certified). To prove his innocence and purity, he agreed to a tougher than required anti-doping regimen (piss test), providing samples (blood too) to be held for eight years (gross) in case new and improved testing is developed.

To win his eight gold medals in Beijing, he subjected himself to a tremendous training regimen (sadistic) that unless you’ve tried it at any level, even only as a serious enthusiast (weekend warrior), you know it is not always fun, and it’s often painful afterwards (prescription strength). Obviously Michael Phelps has extremely efficient powers of recovery (personal masseuse), as proven by his ability to get all eight medals (stud).

Michael says it was more than just the gold medals (money). He said he wanted to accomplish something that had never been done before (fame). It was a lofty goal, trying to surpass the incredible Mark Spitz (super-human), and in the process of accomplishing that goal, he eclipsed every other Olympian in history (alien).

But now that he’s achieved his goal, won his medals, and set his records, what does the future hold for Michael Phelps? ($50 million) The media's already talking about the 2012 games, and he does have plenty of time to prepare. (party hardy) But that would very likely amount to an appearance to add to the medal tally and the record (fourteen). In 2012, at age twenty-seven (prime-time), would he be able to match his own record? (doubtful) And why would he even want to try (glory)? To fail would tarnish his unbeatable image (marketable). He would be much wiser to choose only the events he really enjoys (sure-wins), and can give a one hundred percent effort (cha-ching).

At twenty-three years of age (punk), Michael Phelps by all rights could retire (Century Village), and make an enviable living off of endorsements and occasional well-timed public appearances ($50 million!).

But there's more to life than just money. (food) If Michael Phelps is as smart as looks, he will take some time to enjoy life (get laid) and spend some of the multi-millions of dollars that have started rolling in (Ferrari). Sure take care of your mom (Campbell’s Soup commercial) and sisters in appreciation for their support (screaming), but then take advantage of the fruits of all your labor in the pool and treat yourself (sex). Whatever it is that excites you, do it (skinny-dipping). Take the life this moment in time has handed you (lucky bastard) and quench your full thirst (top-shelf). But don’t wait, don't make the mistake of thinking you have so much time (now), do it now, because as soon as the moment passes, you can never get it back (NOW!).

Thanks Michael, thanks for the memories
