One vote to one: Lady de Rothschild and me
Yesterday two political bombshells were dropped on the 2008 Election landscape. On Larry King Live, Donald Trump endorsed John McCain (Soo-prise, soo-prise!), and Lady Lynn de Rothschild, big-time Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the DNC’s Platform Committee (now former), jumped ship, and hopped on the McCain-Palin, self-righteous bandwagon. The reason for both endorsements, are obvious, Donald Trump is a multi-multi-millionaire and he doesn’t want to be taxed more. Don’t forget, he was “bankrupt” a few years back, so he’s still hurting from all that written off debt. In the case of billionaire Lady Lynn de Rothschild, I’m sure she’s worried about the tax thing too, but the reason she gave on television is so obvious, I’m surprised more of us didn’t see it, Barack Obama is an elitist. Now if that isn’t the pot calling the kettle black, I don’t know what is. I don’t begrudge anyone their wealth and success, as long as they earned it, and she did. She made herself successful, through her own ambition and intelligence, and gained her influence through her strategic success of being in the right place and industry at the right time, a true All-American success story. However, as a former attorney, who gave up a successful law career, in exchange for big business and political influence, you would think she could relate better to Barack and Michelle Obama, apparently not. She claims in somewhat vague terms that for some reason Barcak Obama is a self-centered elitist, and John McCain is pure and down-to-earth. When it’s pointed out that her candidate, Hilary Clinton, was very similar to Barack Obama on many of the most important issues of the day, she can only respond by praising John McCain’s almost opposite stance on these same issues. She denies she is voting based on personality and strongly denies she’s bitter over Hilary’s loss. But one thing she wasn’t asked, was if she was bitter over her candidate not being chosen to be Obama’s running mate? She might have flinched or twitched, just a hair over that one, but at any rate, it was obvious she felt betrayed by the Democratic Party. Lady Lynn is entitled to form her own opinion and make her own choice as an American. That’s the beauty of democracy, my vote counts as much as Lady Lynn’s. She can buy a fortune’s worth of political influence, but on November 4th, I will be an equal share-holder with Lady Lynn, Cindy Lou, and Sarah Louise. Of course, that depends on whether my vote will be counted or not. Based on Florida’s past history, I have my doubts. It looks like we’re back to paper ballots and black stick pens, and that worries me, because if pens are viewed anywhere in the same light as packs of Sweet-n-Low, the Florida polling places will be out of pens by noon. Come to think of it, that’s more newsworthy than which candidate Lady Lynn votes for, but she’s a rich elitist herself, so she gets to tell everyone her vote on television. Thanks for sharing that with us Lynn. William S. James, Sufferer of Benedict Arnold, Eddie Arnold, and Arnold the Pig without Lipstick Syndrome |
