McCain Flat-lines another debate
By William S. James
John McCain is talking in the second Presidential Debate, I'm watching it on CNN, and he's flat-lining it right now. CNN has these people in Columbus, Ohio watching the debate, twisting this knob to rate what the candidates say, and McCain is flat-lining it. Big time. I know when you get older it's harder to get a rise, and over the course of the evening, McCain did get a few, but the problem was that he couldn’t sustain it, he couldn’t keep it up. All the pundits said that he needed a big one tonight, and based on all the flat-lining, he didn’t get it, not even close. When McCain spoke about the economy he flat-lined. With health care and energy he flat-lined. And even when he took his usual hawkish stance on Iraq and Russia, he flat-lined, especially with the men. The men flat-lined more with McCain than the women. Obviously the “chicks” in that room, holding their knobs, were into “older guys”, because the old geezer seemed to be getting a bit of a stir out of them. I'm sure they had a team offstage in case he went Code Blue. But when it came to men and women with knobs, Barack Obama had them dialing it up. If you could add up all the knob dialing that went on tonight (and I’m sure some underpaid intern is getting those results for us right now), Obama kept it up the longest. Sometimes when he was talking the line rose so high it hit the top of the Line World. Now that’s what I call stamina. William S. James, Line blind
