Dick Cheney sells out his grandchildren
Today the claims made by former EPA official, Jason Burnett, that the Office of Vice-President, Dick Cheney made a concerted effort to alter sworn testimony concealing and diminishing the possible adverse health effects on the population from global warming and greenhouse gas emissions. On the surface this looks like the typical political maneuvering we’ve grown to expect as commonplace from this administration. On further inspection, this action looks almost criminal in nature as sworn testimony was tampered with, there was a clear motive in mind which was anti-regulation and pro big business, and as a result, the health of the country and even the people of the world were knowingly at least compromised and potentially even put at risk. But amid all the political, governmental, and legal outrage, there is one thing about Dick Cheney’s actions that stands out to be far more despicable than any crime against the government, and that is a crime against the people, his people. Dick Cheney sold out the future of his children and grandchildren to make corporate executives wealthier. Dick Cheney sold out his two daughters and six grandchildren for cash. I don’t expect Dick Cheney to care about me, my wife, our families, our friends, our colleagues, or anyone else with which he has no contact. A powerbroker and power-parasite such as Cheney cares only about those over whom he can peddle influence, and those from whom he can take power. But to sell out the ecological future of your children to payoff special interest debt, goes beyond the jurisdiction of any Special Prosecutor or Congressional hearing. They are the actions of a man whose heart has been taken over by greed and who will know no remorse as he overs his actions by claiming executive privilege. I feel nothing but sorry for Dick Cheney and his family at this point. Sorry that a man who apparently had dedicated his life to government service could have so severely lost sight of what it means to serve as the Vice President of the United States. Then and now, the goal of all our elected leaders and officials, should be to protect and serve the American people. That’s it, protect and serve the people, all of the people, according to the Constitution, and to do it to the best of your ability. Dick Cheney failed us in that task. Soon, time itself will remove him from office, and hopefully somewhat limit the damage his type of disease can afflict upon this country. But with greed as such a successful mentor and motivator, it manifests into a large part of the misery that afflicts many good people in this country and around the world, and will surely find another power hungry individual who will sell out his kids for money, prestige and power. It’s the nature of the beast we call politics and government, and our only control over this political beast is our vote. Vote good men and women into power, and vote out men and women whose vision is blinded by greed. It seems like a small measure of action and recourse available, but it’s all we have. See Dick run. Run Dick run. William S. James, Willing to share |
